Armed with a freakishly strong desire for winning, finely tuned marketing skills, and a strict policy that allows only freshly ground whole-bean coffee in the office, Tom Jelneck founded On Target Digital Marketing on a hot-ass Florida day in 2005. But the agency’s roots go back a decade before that to the rolling hills of a Southern Indiana farm town.

In sleepy St Meinrad, Indiana, surrounded by expansive fields of soybeans and corn, sits a medieval-era monastery that looks like it was plucked right out of the Middle Ages. In a region dotted with old barns constructed from hand-hewn timbers, the Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology stands in stark contrast. Constructed of locally quarried sandstone, the monastery and attached seminary buildings were Tom’s home throughout his four years of college. While our founder discerned whether or not he was called to be a Catholic priest, he dug deep into literature. He wrote. He wrote some more. He won awards for his creative writing and developed a deep love for the English language.

Tom also thought it was freaking awesome that the Benedictine Monks wore Jedi-like robes and that a truck stop up the road served the best damned cheeseburgers on the planet.

While Tom’s ultimate life plan did NOT involve a Jedi outfit and a starchy white collar, he did work for the Catholic Church after graduating. The next 10 years took him on a winding career path that had the predictability and stability of a hurricane forecast.

However, as he evolved into each new job, Tom found a way to integrate his passion for writing, his love of marketing, and his affinity for shiny, high-tech toys.

Then it happened. Tom heeded the call. Not to the priesthood, but to capitalism. He began to grow On Target into a full-service digital marketing agency that partners with national and international brands. An in-house team of editors, account managers, and designers works with a network of 500 content creators to tell brand stories that inspire, educate and entertain.

The OT team believes the Internet should be populated with remarkable content rather than littered with nonsense. Content that builds its clients up as thought leaders. Content that tells stories that get shared. Content that builds trust, confidence, and an affinity for the brands we represent.
